Dubbo After Hours

Marathon Health works with local General Practices and health professionals to address gaps in access for all members of the public to appropriate medical care in the after hours period. This has led to the provision of an after hours initiative in the Dubbo region which encompasses improved face to face medical care and GP phone advice.

The community of Dubbo has access to two after hours services provided by Marathon Health:

  • Dubbo After Hours GP Clinic
  • Dubbo After Hours Medical Service

Dubbo After Hours GP Clinic

The Dubbo After Hours GP Clinic provides consultations by local GPs to patients who have an urgent non emergency medical condition and are unable to wait to see their regular GP during normal surgery hours. It is staffed by a GP, a Registered Nurse and a receptionist.

The Dubbo After Hours GP Clinic is located at Dubbo Base Hospital inside the main entrance across from the Emergency Department. It operates from 2pm until 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays (excluding Christmas Day and Good Friday).

The clinic offers bulk-billing and is a walk-in model so no appointments are necessary however you will require your Medicare card. The clinic is not intended to replace the routine care provided by your local GP or substitute medical care in an emergency situation. In emergencies, please still call triple zero.

Dubbo After Hours Medical Service

The Marathon Health After Hours Program is an initiative which implements services with the purpose of improving primary care access in the after hours period. These services include GP phone advice, regional coordination of face to face medical care and telemedicine.

In addition to the Dubbo After Hours Clinic, the community of Dubbo has access to a telephone service connecting them to a local GP for medical advice outside normal GP surgery hours. A roster of local GPs provide an on-call phone service 7 days a week for people who have an urgent non-emergency medical condition requiring attention, or who are seeking reassurance or medical advice over the phone.

The telephone system operates:

  • Weeknights 6pm until 8am
  • Weekends and public holidays 24 hours - 8am until 8am

To access this service for medical advice in the after hours period, please call:
