What is Mental Health First Aid?

The course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental illness and mental health professionals.

We currently offer six versions of MHFA:

What are the benefits of Mental Health First Aid?

Across Australia, 1 in 5 people will experience mental illness every year. Completing a MHFA course will teach you the skills to be able to support a friend, family member or co-worker.

Evaluations show MHFA training is associated with improved knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments, appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals experiencing mental ill health. It is also associated with decreased stigma and an increase in help provided.

“This was by far the best training I have completed on mental health. It wasn’t about statistics, but really aimed at how we help those around us,”
– Workplace MHFA participant.
