How can a diabetes educator help?

If you need support understanding and managing your diabetes, our team of Credentialed Diabetes Educators are here to help by providing services for adults diagnosed with pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

We can support you by providing advice to help you better understand and manage your blood sugar levels so you can continue to live a long and happy life with type 2 diabetes.

Who is diabetes management and support for?

Diabetes management and support is for adults diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or at risk of developing diabetes. We take a person-centred approach to your needs – supporting you to understand your blood sugar levels, risk factors, dietary needs, lifestyle changes and how to look after your mental wellbeing in the process.

We also provide Type 2 group education classes that support you to learn to live with diabetes, show where to go for support, understanding nutritional value of foods and so much more. The groups also connect you with a social community to support you through diabetes management.

How do I access?

We currently offer two types of services for people with diabetes:

  • Fully funded services for First Nations people
    • In Bathurst through the Indigenous Chronic Disease clinic
    • In Coonamble, Dubbo and Wellington through the Aboriginal Medical Services. Contact AMS directly for an appointment.
