What will you do as a Community Engagement Coordinator at headspace?
Great question…some (but not all!) of the responsibilities are:
- Community Outreach & Awareness: Develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to raise awareness about youth mental health and help-seeking behaviours within the community.
- Event Coordination: Plan and coordinate community events such as Youth Week, Mental Health Month and other activities, promoting headspace services to schools, community groups and agencies.
- Program Delivery: Create and facilitate mental health literacy education sessions and community training workshops for a range of target audiences, including young people, schools, and local businesses.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key community partners, including schools, health agencies, and local government organisations, to ensure effective service promotion and referral pathways.
- Youth Engagement: Recruit and support young people in joining the Youth Reference Group, ensuring their input is included in service development and delivery.
- Collaboration: Work alongside the headspace team and community partners to build strong networks, fostering collaboration across the youth sector.
- Event Representation: Represent headspace at community events, networking meetings, and functions, which may require weekend or evening availability.
We’re looking for an energetic and creative Community Engagement Coordinator that can show us they have:
- Community Engagement Experience: Proven experience in coordinating community events, promoting mental health awareness, and fostering relationships with diverse groups.
- Passionate Advocate: A strong commitment to reducing stigma around mental health and promoting help-seeking behaviours.
- Strong Communicator: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with young people, families, and community groups.
- Organisational Skills: Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Creative Thinker: Ability to develop inclusive and engaging programs for diverse groups, including LGBTQIA+ communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse
- Tech-Savvy: Experience using social media platforms and digital tools to engage with the community.
- Team Player: Ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic team environment.
- Driver’s Licence: A current driver’s license is required for this position
