At Marathon Health, we’re passionate about improving health outcomes for rural communities. We’re looking for a Communications & Engagement Specialist to join us and amplify the voice of rural health and strengthen our reputation as a trusted leader in the sector.

This is your opportunity to shape meaningful narratives, influence change, and connect people to our purpose through strategic communications and advocacy.

What you’ll lead:

  • Design and deliver external communications strategies that build trust and foster engagement
  • Drive thought leadership across media, public affairs, stakeholder engagement and advocacy
  • Craft compelling content for diverse audiences across media, government, philanthropy and local communities
  • Collaborate with teams across the organisation so messages are aligned and impactful
  • Produce publications, messaging collateral and digital content that showcase our purpose and achievements
  • Plan and coordinate events in person and online to spotlight our research and innovation
  • Monitor performance and report on the reach and impact of communications activity

About you:

  •  Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing communications strategies.
  • The ability to build strong stakeholder engagement and guide strategic outcomes.
  • Expertise in media relations and crafting proactive/reactive responses.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with content creation experience across multiple platforms.
  • Event planning and coordination experience.
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments with creativity and sound judgement.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit, health, philanthropy or government sectors would be desirable
